More than likely, you’ve noticed some significant similarities between Robert Downey Junior’s character, Tony Stark, and the real-life individual, Elon Musk. Even Robert Downey Junior notices this fact, and he has something to say.
Recently, he shared his thoughts regarding Elon Musk and told the billionaire to ‘control his behavior.’ It happened when he was speaking on the podcast, On With Kara Swisher. He said that the antics of Musk and his public presence need to be curtailed.
He also said he recognizes that many people compare his character, Tony Stark with Musk, and he said that with some of the actions that Musk has taken recently, things need to slow down. He said: “I’ve only met him a few times. I just wish that he would control his behavior a little more.”
Director Jon Favreau admitted in 2016 that there is a link between the Tony Stark persona and Elon Musk. He spent some time with the billionaire when making Iron Man 2, and even allowed them to film inside of Space X for a scene.
That all may be well and good, but Downey Jr now seems to be drawing a line in the sand, saying that the recent decisions Musk has made have caused some difficulties. These include his support for presidential candidate Donald Trump and how he has been acting on social media.
Something else that he mentioned was the mindset Musk has about colonizing Mars. He said: “This idea of ‘It’s all okay because we’ve gotta get to Mars’ doesn’t really hold water with me.”
After he said his piece, he also said something positive about the achievements that Elon Musk has made. He said: “You have to look at all that [Musk has] done that demonstrates why he’s valuable.”
This one will be an interesting thing to watch for future developments.
