Robert Downey Jr. Joins Sting On Stage And Shocks The Crowd

Did you ever notice that somebody who has a certain level of talent seems to be talented in multiple areas? Many times, this can be seen in those who cross over, perhaps from comedy to acting or dancing to singing.

One person who is well known because of his acting is Robert Downey Jr. Many would say that he has a considerable amount of acting talent, but did you know that he could sing?

Robert Downey Junior was at the 60th birthday bash for Sting and he was going to do something that caused quite a stir among his fans. He would stand up with Sting for a performance, and people were wondering why they didn’t know he could sing all along.

Downey Jr is not shy when he speaks about his relationship with Sting. They met when he was in his mid-20s, back when he thought that he would be a great songwriter. In order to make it happen, he tried to palm a demo cassette into Sting’s hands backstage and startled the singer.

When Trudy Styler, Sting’s wife recognized him from Less Than Zero, she greeted him, saying “How nice of you to have come.” They never mentioned that tape until 25 years later, when they told Downey that they found it and offered to give it back.

Downey gave a rather funny observation, saying that if they did listen to it, they had rewound the cassette and put it back into its case and taped it shut. That was funny, but it certainly didn’t get in the way of the two of them enjoying some time on the stage at the birthday fundraiser in 2011.

People have different opinions on the voice of Downey Junior. Some say he sounds similar to Robert Palmer, others may have other opinions. In any case, it’s amazing to think that he has been hiding that talent all along.
