River Diver Finds $15K Prosthetic Leg And Then Locates The Man Who Lost It

It doesn’t matter who we are, we all have a hobby. For some people, it may be something simple, such as collecting stamps. Other people may enjoy hiking or perhaps they love music. When we stop to think about it, we often follow those passions and we may even spend a lifetime pursuing them. Every once in awhile, we hear about somebody with an unusual hobby and I’m sure that is how you will feel when you hear about Karl Bly. You see, he dives into the American River almost every day to find things that other people have lost.

After finding something of value, he will post it on his American River Lost & Found Facebook page. This included some rather interesting finds, such as many cell phones. On one particular day, however, he was going to discover something that even he could not have expected. After all, when he looked at the riverbed below him, he saw what appeared to be a human foot! “I found a leg underwater. Once I got past the foot that was on it, the human-looking foot, I saw the mechanics of it and realized it was a prosthetic leg and I just knew immediately somebody needed it back,” he said.

After finding this interesting item, he knew that he had to locate the person who had lost it. He started networking using Facebook and before long, Scott Anderson Sr. stepped forward to claim his leg. Karl said: “Yesterday I found a prosthetic leg on the river bottom. It turns out that it had fallen off of Scott’s raft while he was enjoying the river.”

This was an amazing find because Karl would have had to pay some $15,000 to replace the leg. He came over to pick it up right away and obviously, he was very thankful.
