Riley Keough Claims Mother, Lisa Marie Presley Died Of A ‘Broken Heart’ After Losing Her Son

It’s hard to believe that it has been almost 2 years since Lisa Marie Presley passed away. She was 53 years old at the time, and it shocked many.

Now that some time has passed, Lisa Marie Presley’s daughter, Riley Keough is speaking out about her cause of death. She said that she grieved the loss of Benjamin, her son for three years and then ‘died of a broken heart.’

The official cause of death was listed as a small bowel obstruction that formed after a bariatric surgery earlier in the year. Riley, however, says that she knows the death was due to, at least in part, the death of her brother.

“My mom tried her best to find strength for me and my younger sisters after Ben died, but we knew how much pain she was in,” Riley said. “My mom physically died from the after effects of her surgery, but we all knew she died of a broken heart.”

Benjamin had died as a result of suicide when he was 27 years old. That was in 2020 and according to the corner office, the death was a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Lisa Marie’s manager at the time, Roger Widynowski released a statement, saying: “She is completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11 year old twins and her oldest daughter Riley. She adored that boy. He was the love of her life.”

She also spoke about how life was ‘constantly challenging’ after the death of her son. She said: “I keep going because my son made it very clear in his final moments that taking care of his little sisters and looking out for them were on the forefront of his concerns and his mind. He absolutely adored them and they him. My and my three daughters’ lives as we knew it were completely detonated and destroyed by his death. We live in this every. Single. Day.”

Riley was working on Lisa Marie’s memoir which was left unfinished. She has filled in a number of the gaps and is releasing the book, which is titled From Here to the Great Unknown. It will be available on October 8.
