It’s always amazing when we have the opportunity to see a music legend stand on stage and sing a song. It’s even more amazing when more than one legend is up to the task.
When we think about country music legends, we would have a difficult time not considering Reba McEntire. She had many different hits, including ‘Is There Life Out There’ and ‘Fancy’. That is really just scratching the surface.
One of the saddest country music songs that was ever written is a ballad, ‘The Greatest Man I Never Knew’. The song talks about the heartbreaks of longing for a father’s love and it touches many of us on a personal level.
The song had a number of writers, including Richard Leigh, who admitted that he wrote the song while thinking about his own father. It follows the theme of distant relationships that many of us experience at some point in our lives.
When Reba McEntire stood up to sing this song, it was going to be more than most people could imagine. She wasn’t going to sing alone but rather, she brought up Kelly Clarkson to assist her.
It would be amazing to hear Reba McEntire sing any song in person but when you hear the blending of these two beautiful voices, it really shows you how much emotion can be pulled from the lyrics and the tune of a single song.
