There are times when we may hear our favorite singer on the stage and to hear them is an amazing experience. When they team up with someone else, however, it can hit an entirely new level.
We saw clear evidence of this in 2020 at the CMA awards. In order to pay respects to the late Mac Davis, Reba McEntire and Darius Rucker stood up on the stage and performed ‘In the Ghetto’ together.
The duet that this power couple sang together was more than just a heartfelt tribute, it was something that brought the song back to the minds of many. It was originally made famous by Elvis Presley but the social issues that surround the lyrics of the song continue to touch us today.
Hearing McIntyre and Rucker on the stage together was absolutely beautiful. They breezed new life into a song that has been around for many decades. It is a song that talks about the poverty and crime in urban ghettos.
This wasn’t the only song that was sung as a tribute to Davis. His work, which included this song often touched on social themes and it made him an important part of music in many ways.
Fans were touched by the performance and they couldn’t help but feel the depth of emotions I was carried along with it. You can hear it for yourself in the following video:
