Prince George And Princess Charlotte Break Royal Rule At Wimbledon

Prince George and Princess Charlotte got to enjoy one of the best views in sports on Sunday. The royal kids joined their parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton, at the Wimbledon men’s final.

They were seated right in the Royal Box, which is invite-only and has hosted famous faces like Olivia Rodrigo and David Beckham. Not just anyone can sit there and there are rules you have to follow, no matter who you are.

The box holds 74 seats and has been around since 1922. It’s usually reserved for royals, heads of state, and people connected to tennis, business, or the military.

According to the Wimbledon website, the guest list includes: “British and overseas Royal Families, heads of government, people from the world of tennis, commercial partners, British armed forces, prominent media organisations, supporters of British tennis and other walks of life.”

There’s also a strict dress code that’s gotten some celebrities in trouble in the past. Lewis Hamilton and Meghan Markle have both been called out before for not following it.

Men are expected to wear a jacket and tie or a full suit. Women have to wear what they call “smart attire.” The website also says: “Ladies are asked not to wear hats, as they tend to obscure the vision of those seated behind them.”

One rule that’s not as well known is that kids are usually not allowed in the Royal Box. The exception is for royal children, which is how George and Charlotte were able to sit there.

George first went to Wimbledon when he was eight back in 2022. Charlotte got to go in 2023, also at age eight.

Some fans wondered why Prince Louis didn’t come along this time. But most people figured it was probably because he’s only seven and might not be ready to sit through the whole match.
