Philip McKeon — TV Child Star On ‘Alice’ — Dies At Age 55

Philip McKeon, former TV child star, has passed away at age 55, following a long battle with an illness. McKeon died on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, in his home in Texas. McKeon was born on November 11, 1964, in Westbury, New York. Nancy McKeon is his younger sister, and she’s also an actress. He began acting when he was only four-years-old, and his most prominent role was that of Tommy Hyatt on the show ‘Alice,’ which ran from 1976 to 1985. During his early years, McKeon also modeled and appeared in television commercials. Linda Lavin, the actress who played Alice on the show, first saw Philip at a Broadway performance.

His performance made a great impression on her, and she recommended him for the part of Tommy. After the final season of ‘Alice,’ he went on to make appearances in several other shows, including The Love Boat. During his later years, he would go on to produce and direct several films, including ‘Teresa’s Tattoo,’ a movie that also starred his sister Nancy. McKeon also worked at the Los Angeles station KFWB News 98 and even had his own radio show, which he hosted from Wimberly, Texas.

Jeff Ballard, a spokesperson for the family, released a statement which reads:

“We are all beyond heartbroken and devastated over Phil’s passing. His wonderful sense of humor, kindness, and loyalty will be remembered by all who crossed his path in life.”
