Phil Collins Performs At Live Aid In 1985 Singing against All Odds

When it comes to musical performances, I’m sure that we’ve seen our fair share of musicians who have the ability to move an audience. It doesn’t matter if it is a small venue, such as a local pub or if it is an audience packed full of tens of thousands of fans, music just has a way to change our emotions and our attitudes. Some music may incite a riot and others could cause us to be melancholy but in either case, it has a strange power over us.

Although there are many performers who are able to move an audience such as this, there are some who just have the ability to a larger degree. One of those performers is Phil Collins, and it doesn’t matter if he is your favorite or just someone you appreciate hearing from time to time, his music has the ability to change our mindset. It is especially true when he is in concert, because he is such a powerful performer and his music is loved by so many. It became evident in 1985 during a very important gathering.

The performance that Phil Collins took place in happened in July 1985. There were 72,000 people on hand at Wembley Stadium in London for the performance of Live Aid. Performers from around the world came together in order to sing and play their instruments for a good cause. It was also televised, so it wasn’t only the tens of thousands of people who were at the stadium that got to enjoy it, it was broadcast to a worldwide audience at the same time.

Live Aid was organized by Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure for the purpose of raising funds for the famine disaster in Ethiopia. The money that came from the ticket sales, as well as promotions that occurred around the world, was put into the common fund to help feed those who were unable to feed themselves.
