They sometimes say that youth is wasted on the young and I think we understand the truthfulness of that saying when we get older. As we age, we don’t have the energy that we had when we were younger but we do have the desire, often more desire than we ever had in our youth. It can be very frustrating when we look back on our lives and realize that we didn’t do everything that we could have done during that time.
If you have the opportunity to step back in time, what would you say to a younger version of you? Perhaps we might think about many of the mistakes that we made in our youth, regardless of whether they were financial or had to do with our personal relationships. It would be nice to be able to correct some of those issues but sometimes, there are things that are much more important to us and we don’t realize it until it is too late. That is what you get to see in this video, when people say what they would’ve said to their 16-year-old selves if they had the opportunity to go back in time.
The individuals in this video have something to say because their lives have been touched by melanoma. Often, experiencing that form of cancer has to do with mistakes that you made in your youth. Although it would be impossible to avoid all of those mistakes in our lives, avoiding a few can certainly go a long way in helping us to stay healthy. Unfortunately, for these people, it was too little, too late.
Many Canadians and Americans came together to fund this video and it involves real people who were touched by melanoma. A New York-based group, Freelance Whales was responsible for putting the video together. You will hear advice from people about how they would have avoided melanoma but most of all, you learn just what it can do to someone.
