People Are Going Vegan After Watching A Freshly Cut Meat Video

One debate that often gets heated when people talk about it online is whether we should eat meat or not. There are some people who feel that we should never touch anything that was once living, but others feel that it’s perfectly fine to consume meat.

On occasion, a video or some other information comes to light that changes people’s minds in one way or another. Often, it’s something so shocking that it causes people to swear off meat, temporarily or perhaps even permanently.

That’s what has happened in the following viral video making its rounds on social media. After people watch it, they become so disgusted that they swear they are going to turn vegan.

This isn’t just an unusual video you’re watching; it was described by one commenter as being the ‘least appetizing thing I’ve ever seen.’ Many other commenters also said they were done eating meat permanently.

The footage shows a freshly cut piece of beef that seems to be spasming in front of the camera. It does so because salt was added to the freshly cut meat.

This video originally made the rounds on Twitter in 2020, but now it is gathering attention again, racking up hundreds of thousands of views and causing debates on both sides of the issue.

It was shared by the ‘Weird and Terrifying’ Twitter account and shows a butcher holding up a raw slab of beef and sprinkling salt onto it. At that point, the beef appears to move independently. I have to admit, it is disturbing.

The science behind this was explained in a 2015 article. It said: “The central nervous system is dead but the nerve-endings in the muscles are still firing, resulting in the jumping, because the nerves are not yet dead. This will stop after a short time.”

The writer, a Chinese meat inspector, went on to say: “You can rest assured, this piece of meat is very fresh and is from a freshly slaughtered animal.”

I’ll admit, even with the explanation, it is still a difficult video to watch. So if you love meat, watch it, if you dare.
