At this time of year, most of us are usually preparing for Thanksgiving and getting ready to slide on into the Christmas season. However, this is an unusual year in many ways and lots of folks decided to start the holiday season early. In fact, people even pulled their Christmas trees down from their attics and decorated them as Halloween Christmas trees (and they were really cool!). The holidays are usually a magical time to celebrate with good food, lights, decor, music, family, goodwill, and just general cheer. Don’t we all need as much of that as we can get right now?
In the U.S., we’ve wound up a harrowing presidential election and we’re still valiantly battling the deadly coronavirus pandemic. It’s been a rough year and many people are also mourning the loss of loved ones with the death toll from COVID-19 at more than 230,000 in the U.S. alone. So don’t we all just need a little Christmas? The most famous a capella group in the world, Pentatonix, certainly thought we did and we won’t argue with them. Anytime they want to release a new album is fine with us. In fact, the group’s new Christmas album is titled “We Need a Little Christmas” and the release date is November 13.
The group has already released the first single and it’s a song you’ve probably heard before, but most likely never like this: Amazing Grace. Yep, that’s it. One of the most commonly sung songs in the world and it’s done in the typical epic Pentatonix style. The group covers the version of the ancient hymn that was popularized by Chris Tomlin. Although it’s not exactly a Christmas song, it’s a good reminder that a little grace is welcome at any time, but perhaps more so than ever this year.
