Nicole Kidman Learns Of Mother’s Death And Leaves The Venice Film Festival

Life has a way of throwing us unexpected curves from time to time. It happens to all of us, regardless of our station in life.

Recently, Nicole Kidman was at the 81st Venice International Film Festival, and she had to leave abruptly. Unfortunately, her mother had passed away.

Reports say that Kidman had been honored with the Volpi Cup for the best actor at the awards for the Babygirl movie. Since she had to leave early, the director of the movie, Halina Reijn accepted the award on her behalf. They also revealed that she had to go home after learning that her mother had died.

The director read a statement in which Kidman revealed that she had learned about her mother, Janelle Ann Kidman shortly after arriving in Venice.

“I’m in shock and I have to go to my family,” the statement said. “But this award is for her. She shaped me, she guided me and she made me.”

She went on to say “My heart is broken.” As the statement was read, you could hear people gasping in the audience.

Kidman had spoken about health issues her mother was experiencing in 2022. She was in Australia during that time so she could take care of her mother.

She said that she was very close to her mother and thankful that she was ‘giving me the chance to view the world through an 81-year-old woman’s eyes.’

“That is so beneficial right now because she’s so cognizant. She has every brain faculty available. So she hasn’t lost anything. She hasn’t lost any memory, which is fascinating, and she’s extremely bright. She’s also very direct and very honest.”

Kidman’s father died in 2014.
