New Orleans New Year’s Attack Took The Life Of Former Princeton Football Star

The deadly truck attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans took the lives of at least 10 individuals. Included among them was a young man who was well-known for his abilities on the field.

27-year-old Tiger Bech was a former Princeton football star who lost his life in that truck attack in New Orleans. It happened on Wednesday morning in the early hours as 2025 was just getting started.

Bech was well-known as a kick returner who played from 2016 until 2018 for Princeton. He and at least nine other people were killed in the incident.

His brother Jack, who is a football player at TCU wrote a heartfelt post to his brother. He said: “Love you always brother! You inspired me everyday now you get to be with me in every moment. I got this family T, don’t worry. This is for us.”

The incident occurred when 42-year-old Shamsud Din Jabbar drove his truck down the crowded street, killing many people along the way. The athletic director at St. Thomas Moore Catholic High School, where Bech had attended said that he suffered from severe internal bleeding.

After he was struck by the vehicle, he was transported to a hospital in New Orleans and placed on life support until his family was able to arrive.

Bech was more than a football player at Princeton, he also earned a finance degree when he graduated in 2021. He was visiting New Orleans for the holidays when the incident occurred.

Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the driver of the pickup truck was shot during a confrontation with officers at the scene and died. The FBI is now looking into the incident to see what all was involved.
