Mother Refuses To Put Down Her Dead Preemie Baby For Hours As She Begs Him To Live

One of the most exciting times in the life of a parent is when they first learn that they are expecting a child. From the moment that they find out, their lives are changed forever and for the next nine months, they do everything they can to plan for the new arrival. As a parent begins to think about the day that they bring the little one home, it just seems as if they are full of hope. The unfortunate reality for some parents, however, is that they will not come home with the child because it is stillborn or dies after birth. It is something that is in the back of our minds but we don’t typically dwell on it.

For David and Kate Ogg, a couple in Australia, the journey from pregnancy to childbirth was a difficult one. It had been quite some time before they were able to conceive a child but the Australian couple continued to be positive about the possibility of bringing the young one home. They then got news from the doctor that there were two babies inside the mother, so they were absolutely thrilled. Ask anyone who has ever had a twin pregnancy, however, and they can tell you that they are complicated. When the Oggs’ babies were born, they learned the sad news that one of them had been declared dead shortly after birth.

Although the doctors had told them about the death of their child, they were thinking about the love of a mother and what it could do for that young one. The doctor said that baby boy, Jamie, was born dead but there were other plans for this child, at least according to the mother and father. The Oggs wanted to say their final goodbye and spend some time with the baby boy. The doctors agreed but as they cradled the baby, their breaking hearts moved them to continue to hold him. Kate just kept holding onto the baby because she said he was so cold and she wanted him to be warm.

That is when David and Kate got into bed with their baby son and sang him lullabies, holding them close to their skin. The baby would gasp on occasion, but the medical team told them it was just a reflex action. That is when a miracle happened, after holding the baby for hours, he began to breathe.

David said that he is so happy he has a “very strong, very smart wife,” that did by instinct what needed to be done. Both of the babies are now nine years old and healthy.

It seems as if the thing that happened during childbirth and shortly after did not affect Jamie in a negative way.
