There are many people who dream of having a family. Some may struggle to have children but others have no struggles in that regard.
That is where 39-year-old Martha comes in. She is a mother who lives in Medellin, Columbia, and she is not only a mother, she has 19 children and is ready to have her 20th.
Some people have a traditional family but that isn’t the case with Martha. She feels that having children is somewhat of a business and she has had 20 children with different men over the years.
The something else that is interesting about Martha is the fact that she is determined to continue to have children as long as she is physically able to do so. She doesn’t care who the fathers are as long as she keeps adding more children to the family.
One of the reasons why she does this is because of the support that she gets from the government. According to some estimates, she receives about $500 in government support for all 19 children every month.
Martha said: “I see being a mom like a business, practically. The truth is, as the government helps me for each child, I receive a little money for each one.”
She also said that it is necessary to continue to have children because the youngest children are soon going to be leaving the house. She will stop receiving support for them at that time, so adding new children is like a type of job support for her.
This may seem a little strange, but Martha says that she doesn’t find it difficult to get pregnant. Finding new men to take care of the job is not a difficult thing for her, and Martha doesn’t involve the fathers in their lives. She doesn’t even care if they find out who their father is.
This is a shocking story to many but it is the reality for others. We hope that the children are balanced and well cared for.
