Any case of a missing person is something that is causing a lot of stress for others. The family members sometimes feel helpless, not knowing what is going on.
Unfortunately, there are times when a missing person case doesn’t end in a happy way. Such was the case on September 4, when Melissa Jubane, a nurse at St. Vincent Hospital in Portland did not show up for her shift.
Coworkers became concerned immediately when she was absent and they contacted the police. A case report from the Beaverton Police Department showed that the police went to her apartment at 10:18 AM for a welfare check request.
After they arrived, they met with the apartment complex staff and searched her apartment. She wasn’t home and her phone seemed to be off since nobody was able to contact her.
The police ran a search on her credit cards to see if she may have been using them elsewhere. Nothing came up. At that point, she was considered a missing person, and a police investigation was started.
In the end, her neighbor, Bryce Jonathan Schubert was arrested and charged with her murder. At this point, police are saying that they did find her remains but they are not saying where they found them.
According to Jubane’s mother-in-law, she got married on August 25 and they went to Oregon on September 1. The two of them last saw each other on September 2 when she drove to the apartment in Beaverton so she could be close to the hospital while she was working. Her husband stayed with her family.
Although Jubane was at work on September 3, she didn’t show up on September 4. Her son had heard from her at around 6 AM on September 4 but she didn’t get into work in the morning. A bloodhound was used to search for her and they searched the apartment complex in the area surrounding the apartment.
Her mother-in-law said that she misses her, adding: “I’m so happy Bryan met her, I told Bryan to always love her. They were happy, very happy.” She also said that the nurse was trying to find a job closer to her husband.
