Melania Trump showed off her version of Halloween style again this year, and people are not exactly thrilled about it. From the woman once caught on tape complaining about decorating for holidays, her display came across as strange and a little off.
She posted a photo of the setup on her official account on X, but the reaction was far from what she probably hoped for. The photo showed rows of pumpkins and fake leaves covering parts of the South Lawn. Many pointed out that pumpkins are food and criticized the choice as out of touch during a time when people are struggling.

Some online compared it to a scene from a horror movie instead of something festive. One person commented: “Scary how warped the image came out,” referring to the photo Melania shared. Another wrote: “I assumed it already started way back in January. It has looked like Halloween ever since.” Someone else called it a “spooky spectacle” and said: “It’s like the First Lady decided to turn a symbol of national unity into a haunted house of political theatrics.”
People also took note of just how many pumpkins were used and how odd the overall setup looked. Spoiler alert, most agreed it did not look good.
Even though some of her supporters defended her, the general reaction leaned negative. Many said it looked unsettling and completely missed the point of holiday spirit. Some felt it was thoughtless to show off so much excess while many are dealing with financial hardship.

To be fair, Melania has used a similar theme before, filling the area with fake leaves and piles of pumpkins for fall events. It seems to be her signature look, but that doesn’t make it better received this time around.
In another comment about the decorations, someone joked: “It’s scary enough already,” hinting that the real fear might be more about the current state of things than her Halloween setup. And another summed it up bluntly: “How can you mess up Halloween decor? Just ask Melania.”
