Meat Loaf Is Still Remembered For His 1994 National Anthem Performance

When you go to a sporting event in the United States, one of the things that is going to take place is for the national anthem to be sung. Some people do a good job of it and other people, not so much.

There is one rendition of the national anthem that took place at the 1994 All-Star game that is said to be the best rendition that has ever been sung. It was performed by Meat Loaf, and it has become iconic.

Perhaps you remember some of the renditions of the national anthem that fell far short of the mark. An example of this is when Roseanne Barr sang the national anthem in 1990 at the Padres game.

In stark contrast was what took place at the All-Star game in 1994 when Meat Loaf performed what is undoubtedly one of the most iconic and epic national anthem performances of all time. There have been others that are great, but he did it justice.

Meat Loaf was very popular in the 70s and 80s, but he had a resurgence in the 90s and was doing quite well with his musical career. On that particular day, you could tell that he was ready for singing and he did an awesome job.

In speaking about how we felt before singing the anthem, he said: “It’s one of the warmup songs I do before I go on stage. Then I go out and sing stuff that doesn’t resemble it. It’s a very dramatic song, and I’m going to sing it slow and dramatic.”

He was only at the microphone for 84 seconds, which is a lot shorter than the record, which is held by Marvin Gaye of two minutes and 21 seconds. In the end, he gave baseball fans, patriots, and rock ‘n’ roll fans something to remember.
