It doesn’t matter who we are, we all want our voice to be heard. In some cases, people may go to the extreme in order to have their voices heard by many.
This recently happened after a man visited an auction and spent thousands of dollars in order to buy a guitar signed by Taylor Swift. Most of the Swifties who saw the resulting video would have loved the opportunity to buy something that their idol held in their hands.
The problem was, he wasn’t exactly interested in playing the guitar or hanging on a wall. Rather, he just wanted his voice to be heard and he ended up with a mega-viral video as a result.
The guitar had a picture of Taylor Swift as well as her signature and it sold for some $4000 at auction. When he stepped up to pick up the guitar, they ended up picking up the pieces because he had a hammer in his hand.

The footage has gone viral and you can see an older man holding up the guitar before passing it over along with a hammer. The buyer who bought the memorabilia then takes a swing at the guitar and busts it in pieces.
Even after he finished with a hammer, he looked as if he was about to pick it up and throw it to the floor. The host of the event, however, encouraged him that he should take the guitar and leave the stage.
According to a certificate of authenticity, Taylor Swift did sign the guitar and it was donated by a third party to the auction. It wasn’t donated to be destroyed but he decided to take that step.
The nonprofit agricultural event, Ellis County Wild Game Dinner raises money for local youth education. All of the money raised goes to that cause, including the money he paid for the guitar.
There’s been a lot of speculation as to why he destroyed the guitar after buying it. Some people thought it may have been a political statement because of Taylor Swift endorsing Kamala Harris for the upcoming election.
She said: “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.
“I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.”
It wasn’t unusual for this type of guitar to be sold at auction but when he announced that he was going to smash the guitar, people started taking videos with their phones. One attendee even said that it was unexpected but not surprising.
