Man Begins Sleeping At Animal Shelter To Bring Attention To Dog Who’s Been There For Over 400 Days

For most folks, spending one day in a noisy dog kennel may seem like a lot, but imagine being there for 400 days? That’s just how long a little terrier mix by the name of Queen spent living inside the Great Plains S.P.C.A in Merriam, Kansas. Queen is 3-years-old and about as sweet of a doggie as you’ll find. Yet, for whatever reason, she’s often been overlooked time after time during her extended stay in the shelter. But one day in September, animal activist Scott Poore decided it was time to act. Scott is in charge of an organization called “Mission Driven” that creates and promotes fundraisers to aid animal shelters. Once he heard about how depressed Queen had become after living at the shelter for so long, he knew that he had to find a way to draw some attention to her plight.

After meeting with the pup, Scott was even more committed to helping her find a loving forever home. According to Scott, Queen is “the most affectionate lovable dog I probably have ever worked with,” and Scott should know. He wound up spending a lot of one-on-one time with the pup after publicly moving into her kennel. Scott only brought a few belongings and bedding, which he shared with Queen. He was bound and determined to live with her until someone adopted her. And after seven days and nights, it worked! “I honestly did not know if I was going to be there 24 hours or a month, but I was prepared to do either,” he said. “Seven nights in an animal shelter is quite a long time I have to admit.”

As you can well imagine, animal shelters are not a great place to live in. Scott admitted that he could barely get any sleep for his seven days spent in the kennel. “Between all the animals barking and Queen every hour on the hour waking me up with her rope toy wanting to play.”

But thanks to all of Scott’s efforts, the reward came in the form of a father and son from the Kansas City area who saw a report about Scott and Queen and decided to adopt the pup. “I just want to thank them for opening up their home and their hearts for such an incredible dog who deserves a long life in a loving home,” he said. “I had the pleasure of meeting the father and the son, and it’s going to be a perfect home for them and for Queen. It’s a win-win for both sides.”

Some folks may wonder why Scott simply didn’t adopt the pup himself, but he reminded people that as an animal advocate, he meets with needy animals every day. “I can’t adopt every animal that I help because then I will have 1,000 animals in my house,” said Scott.

Now that Queen has found her new family, this dog lover is moving on to find the next animal in need of his help.  “What helps me get through the emotional side of my work is I move very quickly to the next animal [who] needs my help.”

We are so happy to know that there are people like Scott, who are speaking up for those in need without the voices to ask for help. Being willing to sacrifice your own time and comfort to help ensure an animal’s happiness is a noble and admirable endeavor. Thank you, Scott, for all the hard work you do!

ADOPTED!!!Queen has left the building, thanks to an amazing man who fell in love with her story. This week has been exhausting and an emotional roller coaster, but this video makes it all worth it…I was a royal sendoff fit for only a queen 👑We ❤️ you, Queenwww.missiondrivengoods.com
