We sometimes hear people discussing being an ‘armchair quarterback.’ It generally is a lot easier to make the calls on the sidelines rather than doing them when you are under fire.
It seems as if this is also true when you are taking part in a famous game show. This includes The Wheel of Fortune, which has been on television for almost 50 years and often has millions playing at home.
Over the years, we’ve seen our fair share of amazing moments on The Wheel of Fortune and some of them continue to take us by surprise. Some of those moments are fantastic but others may make us scratch our heads and wonder what could have gone wrong.
Such was the case with the recent blunder that occurred on The Wheel of Fortune. The contestant may have been confident that he had the right answer, but he totally blew it.
It happened on November 11 when the episode aired and the contestant, named Will, was ready to solve the puzzle. Most people at home had probably already guessed what it would be, because there weren’t all that many missing letters.
The actual answer to the puzzle when the letters were filled in would have been “Give yourself a round of applause.” Will went another direction.
He was ready to solve and told Ryan Seacrest that he would solve the puzzle. He then answered: “Treat yourself a round of sausage.” He probably dropped the mic about that time.
As you can imagine, he lost the round when another contestant solved the puzzle. The host of the show then joked: “Will, I kind of like yours better.”
This was just too much of a blunder to let go and many people started mocking it online. This includes many who made it into a meme and others who wondered how he could have possibly gotten it wrong.
Fortunately, the correspondent, Maggie Sajak was there to add some comedy to the situation. She said: “So great! And shoutout to Will for being a great sport and for making us laugh right along with him! Alright Will, we had a little missolve in the first game… that’s okay, could you walk me through how you’re feeling?”
In an interview, Will said: “I tell you, when the lights are on, and you know, the stars and Ryan Seacrest, Vanna White… I just went blank. But, if your dad, in retirement, is watching this show, maybe cracks a beer and gets a laugh, it was worth it”
