Looking Back On Steve Martin’s Long And Successful Career

It would be difficult to find somebody who did not know about Steve Martin. Of course, if you were around a few decades ago, you would have seen him acting in many different movies but even more recently, people continue to watch some of his more popular shows.

You might even be surprised to learn that he recently was part of a Hulu series, Only Murders in the Building. That series has recently come to a conclusion and now he has said that he is not going to perform as often, although he did not say he was retiring.

Essentially, he said that once that series came to an end, he would not be actively seeking additional opportunities to perform. This has caused many people to lament the fact that we may not see him as often.

Undoubtedly, Steve Martin has given us much to smile about over the years. He has won an Emmy, Grammy, and Oscar and all he needs now is a Tony Award to have won them all.

If you can think back early enough in the 1960s and 1970s, you might remember Steve Martin from the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. He did receive an Emmy nomination in 1969 for his comedy in that show. He then went on as a host of Saturday Night Live in the 1970s, and has returned to the show some 15 times since then.

His stand-up comedy was known throughout the world, and perhaps you can remember him with the arrow through his head, saying how he was a ‘Wild and crazy guy.’ People were laughing back then and they continued to laugh as his acting career took off.

Although he gave up stand-up comedy in the 1980s, he still continued to keep us entertained as he was in one movie after another. This included movies, such as Three Amigos, Cheaper by the Dozen, Father of the Bride, and the Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.

He did eventually start his comedy routines again, holding a Netflix series in 2018 and more recently shows with Martin Short. He also became a composer and playwright when he was involved with a Broadway musical, Bright Star.

It really doesn’t matter if you remember Steve Martin from his comedy, his movies, or his appearances in various shows, he is someone who had an impact on the lives of millions of people. We will miss his comedy deeply.
