Legend Of The Silver Screen Has Passed At 95

There are times when actors may play so many different roles in movies that they almost become a household name. They may not be as famous as some of the big stars, but they are still well known by face.

Dabney Coleman is one of those individuals who is known for his performances in movies such as Tootsie, Boardwalk Empire, and 9 to 5. Unfortunately, Coleman has recently passed away at the age of 92.

It was reported that Coleman was at home in Santa Monica when he died peacefully. His daughter, Quincy Coleman spoke about her father, saying that he was a man who lived life with generosity, curiosity, and a passionate and humorous spirit.

She went on to say: “As he lived, he moved through this final act of his life with elegance, excellence, and mastery.” And she called her father a teacher, hero, and King.

Coleman was a part of the entertainment industry for more than 60 years. During that time, he appeared on television and in more than 60 different films. Despite the fact that he may have been a kind individual off the camera, his parts were often unsympathetic and lacking in feelings for others.

Perhaps one of the roles that he was best known for was in the movie 9 to 5. The role that he played out Franklin Hart Jr. really displayed his abilities in that fashion.

In a 2010 interview, Coleman spoke about working with the women in that movie, Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Dolly Parton. He said: “The girls were so supportive of me, and included me in everything. They were on a whole different level than I was at the time, but they were very sensitive about that, and made sure that I was included in every publicity shot and tour. All three of them insisted, ‘Where’s Dabney? Get him in here!’”

Because of his abilities, he won an Emmy for outstanding supporting actor along with six other Emmy nominations. In 1988, he won a Golden Globe for best actor in a TV series music or comedy, thanks to his work in The Slap Maxwell Story.

Some of the other movies that he played in included Wargames, Tootsie, Inspector Gadget, and The Beverly Hillbillies.

Many actors came forward to pay tribute to Coleman and what he leaves behind. We certainly will miss his ability to entertain. May he rest in peace.
