Many celebrities prefer to live their life privately behind the scenes and that is the case with Kendrick Lamar. Now that he is set to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show, people want to know more about his longtime partner and children.
Kendrick Lamar is known for his abilities with hip-hop music. As far as his long-term partner, Whitney Alford, and two children are concerned, he is also known as being a devoted family man.
Lamar and Alford have been together since high school and they try to keep their personal lives as private as possible. Despite that, he does acknowledge that his family life has shaped him as an individual and an artist in many ways.
As far as Kendrick’s career is concerned, there are many achievements to speak of. He was launched into the spotlight in 2012 with his album, ‘Good Kid, M.A.A.D City’ which hit number two on the Billboard 200.
The next year, the artist would be nominated for a number of Grammy nominations, including Album of the Year and Best New Artist. In 2014, he won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance at Best Rap Song for ‘I’.
To date, he has 22 Grammy awards on his shelf and is one of the best-known artists in the music industry. This included him taking home a number of awards this year at the Grammys, including Record of the Year for ‘Not Like Us’.
Now that Kendrick is about to make one of the biggest performances of his career at the Super Bowl LIX halftime show in New Orleans, the focus is on him. He revealed the upcoming performance on an Instagram post in September.
Behind the scenes, he continues to be a devoted family man but also emphasizes the fact that privacy is key for him. When talking about living with Whitney Alford, he said: “I want something that’s just for me.”
In a different interview, he admits that at times, he has been called a recluse. He goes on to say: “There’s definitely truth in that. I like to spend time alone.”
As a family man, he tends to stay home rather than going out to clubs and he doesn’t drink or smoke heavily. His bond with Alford is important to him, and they have been close since high school.
The pair is at times seen out in public and they do support each other well. For example, they attended the 58th Grammy Awards on February 15, 2016, and were together on the red carpet. They’ve traveled to South Africa and other places, and they seem to have a playful repertoire. This includes Alfred calling him ‘cheap’ one time in front of a reporter.
Lamar spoke about their bond, saying: “I wouldn’t even call her my girl. That’s my best friend. Where Lamar really shines is in his role as a father. Alford and LeVar parent their two children together and it really has taught him more about love than any other factor in his life. He finds it humbling to observe their growth, one time even expressing: “That’s love, to me.”
Alford also expresses her appreciation of support in the work that she does. She focuses on empowering women and building community through the platform she founded, Love + Ethos. It is designed to help women, particularly new mothers with the resources they need.
Alford one time described Love + Ethos as her ‘new baby’ but essentially, she was inspired by her own children in developing it. Like her husband, she is dedicated to the family and to raising their children behind the scenes.
A rare public photo was shared on Instagram in May 2022 that showed Lamar holding their daughter and Alford holding their son. She captioned it: “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. Shot by @renellaice.”
The bond is also shown in other pictures that show their children. When people see those photos, they love the bond that they have together and often comment on the beauty of the entire family.
Her hairstyle is also praised often, along with her beauty. It’s not uncommon for commenters to call Kendrick a lucky man.
