Julie Christie Reveals The Real Reason She Left Hollywood

There are some actors and actresses who stay in that job for many years. In fact, we have some that have been around for many decades.

That isn’t always the case, however, because some of them will get to the top very quickly and then disappear from Hollywood without a trace. Julie Christie is one of those actors.

Christie appeared in movies such as Darling, and she was really at the top of her game. She was one of the most famous actors in Hollywood at the time, and she is still well-known to this day.

This may surprise you, however, but she decided it would be best to disappear from Hollywood rather than stay the course. I’ll be the first one to admit that it is difficult to be a celebrity, and it can really take a toll on your life.

Some celebrities really thrive on the attention they get from the job but others just want to be anonymous and to walk down the street without being hassled by the paparazzi.

It seems as if that was the case with Julie Christie, who at one time was the top actress but now, has disappeared from Hollywood without a trace.

Julie Christie was born in India in 1941. Her father owned a tea plantation and her mother was a painter and it seemed as if she was going to be a painter as well.

She had difficulty in school when she was younger and would even get expelled at times. One of those is because her dress was tucked in her knickers and she was accused of enticing the boys in the village.

Eventually, she was able to study in Paris and France before meeting her parents in England and going to London Central School for Drama. By the time she was 16, she had made headway into the theater.

She started in a BBC sci-fi series, A for Andromeda in 1961. This may not be the biggest role anyone can have, but it did get her some attention and her sweet smile was picked up on very quickly.

She continued to perform and eventually, she got a part in the film Billy Liar In 1963. She then played in Darling just two years later.

She did so well in her career that she won an Academy Award for Best Actress. She then played in another movie in 1965, Doctor Zhivago. She was a star beyond all others and had a promising career ahead of her.

The problem was, she didn’t have any privacy as a result of her fame. She didn’t want to be a celebrity, she just wanted to be an actress.

She ended up turning down some prominent roles so she could tour with the Royal Shakespeare Company rather than being on the silver screen. She began to feel that being a big star would be unbearable.

When touring with the Royal Shakespeare Company, she wasn’t as much of a celebrity and no one recognized her. She felt that success was a trap and she was insecure, so she didn’t want to get caught up in it.

She certainly was dedicated over the years but has gone on to live her life in the best way that she possibly could. By 1977, she moved back to England and left Los Angeles altogether.

She was able to settle on a farm in Wales, and she is now happily living her life.

She did well and she was able to make a small fortune, but that isn’t everything to her. She just enjoys her quiet life as a former Hollywood icon, something she is not interested in being part of any longer.
