Julie Andrews Shocked By Sound Of Music Reunion

Julie Andrews is known worldwide for her role in The Sound of Music and the music still holds a special place for many. The soundtrack first came out in 1965 and became the top selling UK album for three different years in that decade.

She played Maria Von Trapp and sang alongside the Von Trapp children in what has become one of the most memorable musicals of all time. The movie was based on the true story from the 1949 book “The Story of the Trapp Family Singers.”

Julie has had an amazing career outside of that too. She won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for Mary Poppins, played Queen Clarisse Renaldi in The Princess Diaries, and even voiced Gru’s mom in the Despicable Me movies.

On June 9, she received the 48th AFI Life Achievement Award. The event honored her career and showed how much joy she has brought to audiences.

During the ceremony, Julie sang along to “Do-Re-Mi” as part of a tribute. In a very touching moment, she was joined by the five remaining Von Trapp child actors.

Nicholas Hammond, who played Friedrich, Duane Chase who played Kurt, Angela Cartwright, who played Brigitta, Debbie Turner who played Marta, and Kym Karath who played Gretl, all came together with her for an emotional chorus.
