John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John Together Again For Grease Reunion

Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta recently got together while wearing their vintage “Grease” duds for a very heartfelt reunion event. Travolta, age 65, and Newton-John, age 71, were reunited during the Meet n’ Grease sing-along event that took place at the Coral Sky Amphitheater in West Palm Beach, Florida on Friday. The stars were to host three screening, so their classic 1978 hit movie and then join fans after each screening answering questions from the audience on stage. They also encouraged fans to dress up as their favorite characters and shocked everyone when they did so as well! Travolta even shared a couple of pics on Instagram, captioning one “Grease is still the word.” No doubt!

“First time in costume since we made the movie,” Newton-John captioned a similar picture. “So excited!!” On December 14, pair appeared at the Meet n’ Grease event in Tampa, Florida, and made their final appearance on December 15 in Jacksonville. After the screening, Newton-John disappeared to the back for a quick wardrobe change where she came out wearing her vintage “bad girl” apparel complete with her leather jacket and black leggings. And we must say, she looked as incredible as she did 40 years ago! The T-birds were also at the event along with the film’s director, Randal Kleiser.  Newton-John also auctioned off the original infamous leather jacket she wore during the Grease finale, which sold for $243,000!

Proceeds from the auction went to raise funds for the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Center, an organization she founded back in 1992 when she had her first battle with cancer. Since that time, she beat the disease once more in 2013 before doctors informed her that it had metastasized and spread to her bones in 2017.

The jacket was recently returned to the star who then put it on display at the Melbourne, Australia-based research institute. “The odds of beating a recurring cancer using the newest emerging therapies is a thousand-fold greater than someone appearing out of the blue, buying your most famous and cherished icon, and returning it to you, which is what I’m going to do right now,” the media tech entrepreneur who bought the jacket told Newton-John. “This jacket belongs to you and the collective soul of those who love you. Those for whom you are the soundtrack of their lives. It should not sit in a billionaire’s closet for country club bragging rights.”

Fans were delighted to see the lovely on-screen couple back together again. It was indeed a very warm feeling of welcome nostalgia.

“We did something life-changing, making that film,” Newton-John told People back in 2018. “[At the premiere], you got the feeling from the energy that something was happening. It was a huge response. I feel grateful to be a part of that and to have worked with him. We’ve stayed friends ever since.”
