Many of us remember Jim Carrey for the movies that he was part of. He always had a unique way of making us laugh, but recently, he had a reason to mourn.
Jim Carrey’s sister, Rita, passed away and the family is mourning the loss. This news was shared on her Facebook page by her husband, Alex. He spoke about the time that they spent together.
He wrote: “It is with heavy heart and my deepest sadness, surrounded by her family and friends Rita passed away peacefully and quietly on November 14, 2024.” He went on to say how they had spent 16 years together and then finally got married last July.
During the time that they shared together, they traveled the world and made many friends. He said that she was his ‘best friend, lover, and beautiful wife.’
He also mentioned how Christmas was her ‘favorite holiday.’ It was more than a one-time occasion during the year for Rita. She celebrated it as a year-long occasion and loved giving. She even started a fundraiser supporting a local charity.
Alex is honoring her memory by inviting those who knew her to a candlelight vigil on December 7, 2024. After the vigil, those in attendance are encouraged to join the “Christmas on the Terrace.’
Donations in her memory can be made directly or at the event. They can come in the form of children’s clothing, unwrapped presents, and nonperishable foods.
Alex went on to write: “It’s been a wonderful and crazy journey with Rita. She filled everyone’s heart with joy with every step she took and I will never forget this beautiful and amazingly talented woman.”
At the end of his post, he said: “Goodbye my lover, goodbye my friend. Until we meet again. You really did have the time of your life.” He then signed the post as her ‘bestest friend and husband.’
Most people knew Rita as Jim’s sister but she was an individual to know personally. She was a professional ballerina, but she decided to stay close to her family. She also was a singer, radio show co-host, and producer.
Undoubtedly, the world has lost someone special. May she rest in peace and may her family find the peace they need during this difficult time.
