At age 63, Jennifer Saunders talked about what she believes is her simple secret to enjoying a 37-year marriage.
The French and Saunders star married actor and comedian Ade Edmondson in 1985.
During an interview with Mail On Sunday’s You Magazine, Jennifer said:
“We’re lucky, neither of us really likes arguing.
“We just mess about and make jokes. I’m very unconfrontational.”
The couple share three lovely daughters – Freya, age 31, Beattie, age 34; and Ella, age 36.
Saunders remembered how she and her husband tried to raise their daughters to be as grounded as possible, despite their fortune and fame.
She explained:
“We keep why we are working at the forefront of our minds. Making sure our kids are happy and having a nice time is more important to us than anything.”
The star also noted that she never had a fight with her long-term comedy partner Dawn French, her co=star in the acclaimed French and Saunders TV show and comedy act.
Saunders said the pair both know that “any good friendship is about compromise,” and it would be futile to “dig your heels in.”
The Absolutely Fabulous star also talked about why she “never” liked watching herself on TV.
“It takes a sort of Kardashian mindset to want to look at yourself and go, ‘Oh, if only I’d moved my head that way. Next time remind me I must do this…’
“If you think that way you just become idiotic.”
