Jack Osbourne Speaks Out After 18 Years Of Sobriety

People think of different things when they think about Jack Osbourne. For some, it is the part he played on the MTV reality series ‘The Osbourne’. For others, it is his mother or father that takes the stage when we think about him. After all, his heavy metal father, Ozzy Osbourne was larger than life and since that time, his mother, Sharon has been in the spotlight quite frequently. As it turns out, there is another reason why you would think about Jack Osbourne, the fact that he has been sober for 18 years.

Jack went on Instagram on Wednesday to talk about the milestone and to let the world know that he has been officially sober for 18 years. He talked about what it took to get himself to that point and gave some advice to those who may be on the same path. In order to discuss things, he took a screenshot from the Twelve Steps app and it shows more than just the fact that is has been 18 years. It breaks things down to how many months, days, and hours he has been sober. It is inspiring to see how well this 35-year-old celebrity has done.

Jack said: “If anyone is trying to get sober, know that it is possible if you are willing to do the work. Sending lots of love to my people who have been on this journey with me.” There were also other members of the family that struggled with addiction, including his sister Kelly Osbourne. She has had some struggles and spoke about them on Instagram.

She said: “This is a little hard for me to talk about, but I’ve always promised you that I will always be honest with you about where I’m at and what’s going on in my road to recovery. I relapsed. Not proud of it.”

Perhaps Jack sums things up best when he said: “I didn’t think that was even possible. I found after the first year, you’re like, ‘Oh, OK. So I guess I’ve just got to do that over again.’ And then when you get to two years, you’re like, ‘All right, I guess I’ve got to do these two years over again to get to four years.’ The blessing and the curse, I think with sobriety, is that time goes by really quickly, in a very strange way. It feels like a flash, 17 years, because you’re counting time.”
