A hot mic appeared to catch Donald Trump complaining about the Nobel Peace Prize and about not getting credit for ending wars this year. The moment reportedly happened while he was meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on Monday, December 29, during talks about a peace plan involving Gaza.
As the group sat down to eat, Trump allegedly turned to Netanyahu and began talking about one of his recent peace deals. He was reportedly heard saying: “Do I get credit for it? No,” before launching into comments about how he had ended eight wars since returning to the White House in January this year.

He then appeared to trail off mid thought, saying: “They gave the Nobel-” before stopping himself. Moments later, he continued by saying: “How about India and Pakistan? So I did eight of them. And then I’ll tell you the rest of it,” according to reports of what the mic picked up.
The comments were notable given that Netanyahu had nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize earlier this year. Trump has publicly campaigned for months to receive the award, repeatedly saying he was responsible for resolving several major global conflicts.
While Trump has pointed to ceasefire agreements involving Israel and Iran and Cambodia and Thailand, other claims are disputed. India has said the ceasefire with Pakistan was agreed to independently, Congo remains in conflict, and there has been no active war between Serbia and Kosovo despite Trump’s assertions.

The hot mic moment was not the only recent slip. In another viral incident, Trump confused Armenia with Albania while claiming to have eased tensions involving Azerbaijan, prompting reactions from European leaders. In the end, the Nobel Peace Prize went to Venezuelan opposition leader MarĂa Corina Machado.
Machado dedicated the award to Trump, praising his actions against the Venezuelan regime and crediting the Trump administration with helping her relocate to Oslo, Norway, to safely accept the prize while she remains in hiding.
