A passenger from inside Delta Airlines Flight 4819 posted a horrifying video on Snapchat only moments after the plane crashed. It gives us some insight into the horror those on board must have been experiencing.
It happened on February 17 at around 3:30 pm when Delta Airlines flight 4819 crashed while trying to land at Toronto Pearson International Airport, Canada. There were 76 passengers and 4 crew members on board.
According to officials reporting from the airport, all 80 souls on board were able to be evacuated alive, although at least 18 were transported to local hospitals with injuries.
Deborah Flint, the CEO of Pearson International said: “We are very grateful there was no loss of life and relatively minor injuries.”
Most of those who were transported with injuries only experienced minor issues. There were 3 passengers who suffered critical injuries but, according to Delta News Hub, ‘there are no fatalities’.
A number of passengers have shared their experiences of what happened during and after the plane crash on social media. This includes one passenger who shared a video taken moments after the plane flipped upside down.
Ashley Zook shared the video on Snapchat. In the video, she is still in the plane, strapped into her seat. The included caption read: “My plane crashed. I’m upside down.”
Another video from Zook shows her outside the plane, where she shows the plane upside down on the ground and other passengers milling around. She said: “I was just in a plane crash. Oh my God”
John Nelson is another passenger who shared a video on Facebook, saying how the plane crashed and was upside down. He also shared that there were officials on site.
He said: “Most people are going to be OK, we’re all getting off, there’s some smoke going on”
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is currently investigating the crash.
A statement from the Federal Aviation Administration reads: “The NTSB is leading a team of U.S. investigators to assist the Transportation Safety Board of Canada with their investigation of today’s accident of a Delta Air Lines Bombardier CRJ900 at Toronto Pearson International Airport.
“Per international protocols under the International Civil Aviation Organization’s Annex 13, any information about the investigation will be released by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.”
