When you have a life in Hollywood, it seems as if everything is going your way. At least that’s how it seems to those on the outside.
One actress who was at the top of her game in the 1950s was in some amazing roles, including those for Funny Face and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. She had a career that spanned some 60 years and was one of the most recognized individuals on television and in the movies at the time.
Were talking about Ruta Lee, and it’s amazing what she was able to accomplish in her lifetime. As she became more and more known on the silver screen, she was asked to be in even larger movies.
She was known as someone who has a Lithuanian background and she used those European roots to her benefit. She had a lot of charm and a lot of success to go along with it.
If there’s one thing that she had to her benefit, it was versatility. Not only did she work on the silver screen, but she also had parts on television and even in the theater. Even though she says that she never reached the point of being a household name, she did call herself a triple threat.
Along with being on the silver screen, she was also on the Home Shopping Network for five years. She took her personality and said that she was always able to make a living from it.
Certainly, Ruta had a life that was full of opportunity but her personal life sometimes had some challenges. She was married to Webb Lowe and described him as being handsome in every way. They built a good life together and their marriage lasted for 46 years.
Their 44th wedding anniversary was marked on February 2020 when she shared a message with social media. She said: “Today and every day is special with this wonderful man. As we toast each other, we wish you all a lovely day whether coupled or single… love each other and love yourselves.”
They had a good marriage had a good life together but even that would be tested. This happened when Lowe suffered from a stroke. Rather than stepping out of the light, she decided to provide the constant care that he needed.
She did talk about how this took an emotional toll and sometimes her patience would be running thin. The fact that he was kind on a regular basis, however, helped her to endure.
Through the difficult times, she found a way to stay in focus. Caregiving was just an expression of her deep love and how they had been together for decades.
Unfortunately, he would pass away in July 2020, just before his 89th birthday. It was a painful loss, but she says all she can do is look back and smile. She was happy for the 46 glorious years she had with him and called him a loving and gentle soul.
Life is not always easy, even for a celebrity. We are thankful that Ruta Lee provided us with much entertainment and that she lived a life that made her happy.
