Many parents feel the desire and even a need to have offspring to carry on their name. The unfortunate reality for some parents, however, is that they are unable to do so on their own.
At times, it may be necessary to get some assistance and surrogates may be able to help in these cases. They are people who are willing to carry the baby to term in the event that the couple cannot do it on their own.
It is an extreme sacrifice for somebody to do this for a young couple that can’t have children of their own. It is even more of a sacrifice when it is a family member.
In Utah, Jeff Hauck and his wife were having a problem having a baby but his mother, Nancy, was willing to step up to the plate. On November 3, 2022, Nancy made headlines when she gave birth to her own grandchild.
Jeff and his wife already had four children and they were trying to have more. At first, they had fertility problems and had gone through the route of trying IVF, which led to having two sets of twins. After the last birth, however, she had complications that damaged her and made it impossible for her to have children.
Cambria had to have a hysterectomy, which led to them needing to explore other options. They had embryos stored from past fertility trials and Jeff’s mom said that she would help them to have their fifth child.
Nancy said: “I could just feel this calling to offer to carry for them. I knew I was too old. I knew it wasn’t going to be possible, even though that’s exactly what’s happened. I just felt I needed to tell them I would be willing to do it.”
Anytime a family comes together for the greater good is amazing. This story is one of beauty and sacrifice that will be remembered for many years to come.
