Governor Fires Back At Trump Face To Face And Tells Him ‘I’ll See You In Court’

Whether you like it or not, you have to admit that Donald Trump has ruffled a few feathers since he took office. It seems as if he just continues to do so, and recently he had a run-in with the governor that proves it.

Donald Trump came up against the governor of Maine, Janet Mills after she refused to comply with his executive order. That order, which stopped transgender women and girls from participating in women’s sports is official.

Donald Trump held a rather tense meeting with the governors at the White House on February 21, and he warned Mills that if she didn’t follow his directive, she would lose federal funding for schools in the state.

After finding out that she was in attendance, he asked: “Are you not going to comply with it?”

The governor replied: “I’m complying with state and federal laws.”

Trump responded: “We are federal law, you better do it. You better do it, because you’re not going to get federal funding… Your population doesn’t want men in women’s sports.”

Not one to be deterred, Mills told the president: “We’ll see you in court.”

As if he already had the reply ready, Trump said: “Good. I’ll see you in court. I’ll look forward to that. That should be a real easy one. And enjoy your life after, governor, because I don’t think you’ll be in elected politics.”

Things escalated considerably before too long as the Trump administration launched a federal civil rights investigation into the Department of Education in that state. They were looking for Title IX violations.

The executive order that was signed earlier by Trump is a crackdown on transgender women participating in women’s sports. It refers to the practice as the ‘dangerous and unfair participation of men in women’s sports.’

The order requires federal agencies to take ‘immediate action’ against any athletic associations or schools that “deny women single-sex sports and single-sex locker rooms.”

As Trump signed the papers, he declared it a victory over the ‘radical left’ that is trying to ‘erase the very concept of biological sex and replace it with a militant transgender ideology.’

Maine officials have said that they would resist the pressure of the federal government. Before the meeting, Mills said:

“If the president attempts to unilaterally deprive Maine school children of the benefit of federal funding, my administration and the attorney general will take all appropriate and necessary legal action to restore that funding and the academic opportunity it provides.”

Aaron Frey, the Atty. Gen. in that state called the threats ‘illegal and in direct violation of federal court orders.’

He went on to say: “Fortunately, the rule of law still applies in this country, and I will do everything in my power to defend Maine’s laws and block efforts by the president to bully and threaten us.”
