Have you ever heard a song that gave you chills from the moment it started? That is how many people feel about a cover of a popular song by The Animals.
Erik Grönwall, who used to be the frontman for Skid Row was dealing with a leukemia diagnosis and quit the band to give himself time to recover. That was last year, but you can tell that he hasn’t lost any strength by the way that he sings.
He has uploaded a number of songs recently, but this one is being called the ‘best version’ of a cover of The Animals’ song, ‘House of the Rising Sun’. Even many people who are diehard fans of the 1964 original can’t help but be amazed at the power behind his copy.
When Erik titled the video. He wrote it was the ‘House of the Rising Sun (Epic Dark Version)’ and he wasn’t kidding. It isn’t just the song itself that makes us feel that way, it’s his deep lyrics that make the song amazing.
At first, he allows the song to do its own work and he almost builds us up with anticipation while he is getting ready to unleash everything. Eventually, however, he finally drops a beat about halfway through the track and it gets explosive from there on out.
You don’t have to love heavy metal to truly appreciate what he is able to bring to music in the song. It’s one of those songs that you have to hear to truly understand, and you can hear it in the following video:
