The Oscars are typically one of the most-watched shows of the year. It’s the time of when the entertainers we love so much get together and receive the accolades for the good work that they have done.
This year, at the 97th Oscars, the host has been selected and not everybody is happy about it. He is a well-known comedian and at one point, he hosted a late-night talk show and he will be center stage for the event.
On the academies Instagram page, they announced that Conan O’Brien would be the host of the 97th Oscars. They showed a video of him holding an Oscar statuette, and calling himself and ‘Oscar-winner.’
It’s a short clip, but it was enough to show the world that he was going to be taking on the Oscars. Some people were happy but others, not so much.
Some of the comments were pleasant but others were absolutely horrendous. The problem is, the worse the comments got, the more people were emboldened to say how they really felt.
There were plenty of people who were saying that they wouldn’t watch because they can’t stand his humor. Another one said that the Academy was moving away from the tradition of having a funny host.
It must’ve been difficult to be Conan O’Brien and to read the comments, if he read them. Undoubtedly, it is an honor to be the host of the Oscars and will just have to wait to see how he does in 2025.
