Have you ever been to a concert and saw a performer that you have enjoyed for many years live in front of you? It can be very interesting and in some cases, it may even be a little bit disappointing. After all, there is a lot of computer work that goes into much of the music that we hear on the radio today. In some cases, the singer may not be very close to what you hear when you are listening to it in your car and you might be disappointed that you came to the show in the first place. That isn’t always going to be the case, however, and many singers are talented through and through.
One of the performers that we may not have had the opportunity to see live in concert is Elton John. I’m sure that you are probably heard more than one of his songs and more than likely, you can even sing them by heart. He got a start early in life and played music as only he can play it but once he got started and the word got out, it wasn’t long before he was playing to audiences of thousands of people at a time. If you’ve never had the opportunity to see him, or even if you have seen him in concert, you will appreciate this video from 1971.
If there’s one thing that we appreciate about Elton John, it’s the fact that he always had a surprise up his sleeve. Perhaps it was performing one of his classic songs or it may have been an outlandish outfit that he was wearing. In 1971, however, he shocked the audience by performing a classic song, ‘We Were on Fire’. It was a memorable performance and we are so happy that was caught on video.
Elton John was only 15 years old when he started playing in a local hotel. His piano performance caught the eye of others, and he was able to form a band with friends of his. Before long, he was performing for more than a crown in a hotel, he was performing for thousands of his fans and we still love his music today.
