Dolly Parton’s Goddaughter Plays Jolene

When we talk about music, one of the common questions that we may hear is in regards to our favorite song. If someone were to ask you about your favorite song, what would you say? I’m sure that all of us have a different answer, although there may be some overlap in some cases. We might like something that is currently playing on the radio or perhaps it is something that is from many decades ago. In any case, our favorite song tends to make us feel better when we hear it and sometimes, you can’t help but singing along.

Sometimes, many people may have the same favorite song and it is often one of those songs that sticks around for many years. It may have been performed originally decades ago but we still hear it on the radio and there are still many famous individuals who make mention of it or perhaps even cover it for themselves. That is certainly the case with Jolene, one of the most popular country music songs of all time. Written and performed originally by Dolly Parton, it is also a song that has been redone many times.

Most people are familiar with Dolly Parton and they may be familiar with other singers, including Miley Cyrus. What you may not know is that Miley Cyrus is actually Dolly Parton’s goddaughter. It’s a real honor to have Dolly Parton as your godmother, but it seems as if she may have somehow received some genetic imprint from her, or at least she got it from her famous father, Billie Ray Cyrus!

Miley Cyrus recorded a series of YouTube videos known as ‘Backyard Sessions’. In this particular video that you see below, she is redoing Jolene, which is her godmother’s most famous song. Dolly Parton did the song justice but Miley Cyrus does a good job of it as well.

You can see the performance for yourself in the following video:
