Deepfake Video Of Bill Harder’s Tom Cruise Impression Is Almost Too Convincing

DeepFakes have seen an upsurge in popularity in recent months. Even the quality is improving to the point where it is somewhat freakish. Perhaps you have seen many of these videos for yourself but this video is one that is sure to convince you that they aren’t freaky, they are freaky in an awesome way!

Bill Hader is featured in the video that comes from deepfake creator, Ctrl Shift Face. It happened when he appeared on the late show with David Letterman in 2008. Yes, the episode is over a decade old but the video that you are about to see is incredibly amazing. It showcases the phase shifting technology behind the deepfake videos but it does so in a rather unique way.

Hader was on the David Letterman show to talk about his appearance in the 2008 movie, Tropic Thunder. They were discussing the movie when the subject of Tom Cruise happened to come up. It only took a moment after Cruise was discussed that his face began to change and transform right in front of our eyes. You can hardly notice that it is happening at first but as the discussion continues and the impressions are forthcoming, the faces eventually switch to a different celebrity.

Some people were concerned about the technology behind deepfakes, and it is just continuing to get better and better. It is entertaining when you watch it in the right light, but there is also something sinister that may be behind it as well. After all, it could be used to spread harmful disinformation to the public in a way that is completely believable.
