There are certain things that many of us take for granted and we experience them every day. When you really stop to think about what some people go through in order to enjoy just the simple things in life, it can really make you appreciate what you have.
Charlotte is someone who understands this, or at least she is coming to understand it very well. Although her parents and doctors are not sure why, Charlotte was born completely deaf.
There is no history of hearing loss in the family and the mother said it was difficult to take the news. Even though they were okay with it, and the little girl was healthy otherwise, there were some things that Charlotte was missing.
Perhaps the mother put it best when she said: “She never heard me tell her how much I prayed for her when she was in my belly, she never heard me welcome her into the world, she’s never heard me sing her to sleep-and the hardest to handle – she’s never heard me say ‘I love you.’”
When Charlotte was a few months old, however, the parents knew that they would eventually try cochlear implants. Eventually, the day came when she was able to be fitted and when the mother started talking, Charlotte’s face lit up.
It was the first time that she ever heard her mother say the words, ‘I love you.’ You could really see the tears in Charlotte’s eyes.
The mother said: “We had our miracle moment that I have been praying for when Char got her hearing aids today. We didn’t think she would hear anything so this was more incredible than I can put into words!” She explained on Instagram, “Imagine our surprise and delight when she gave us such heartfelt emotion.”
