Chuck Schumer spoke out on the Senate floor calling President Trump the most immature president America has ever had. He said it was shocking to see the president act less than an adult during a national crisis.
Schumer said Democrats wanted to work with Republicans to lower premiums and strengthen healthcare, showing what Americans actually want today. He added that Trump was not helping avert the crisis and instead was threatening to hurt hardworking Americans.
He said: “We can do things during the shutdown that are irreversible. These things are bad for them and irreversible. He’s cutting out vast numbers of people, and that’s not necessary.”
The criticism came after the White House was seen sharing fake and racist deepfake videos of Schumer while the shutdown was still happening. The White House claimed that Democrats were to blame for the shutdown, saying that the president directed his cabinet and the budget office to find where cuts could be made and how layoffs would follow.
