Bullies Record and Upload Video Of Themselves Pulling Down Autistic Teen’s Pants and Underwear At Park

Folks are outraged after teenagers recorded themselves surrounding and bullying an autistic 14-year-old boy at a park located in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. The teens reportedly pulled down the child’s pants and underwear before posting the sickening video to social media. The accused includes two girls ages 16 and 19, along with two boys ages 10 and 13, who have all been charged, according to ABC7. The attack took place at Berdan Grove Park, and the Fair Lawn Board of Education contacted the police regarding the video, which led to the arrests. The clip shows the autistic teen in a great deal of distress as he’s constantly subjected to cruel humiliation by the group.

The boy is seen crying as the others continue to filming his suffering for their personal amusement. Even more alarming is that this incident apparently happened in broad daylight where there could have been other folks at the park, who may have had an opportunity to intervene. However, no one would come to the child’s rescue or challenge his vile tormentors. Police say the youngest of the four suspects was the one who pulled down the victim’s pants and underwear. It’s then alleged that the 13-year-old held him so he couldn’t move while Alis Fidra and the other female at the scene recorded the incident before posting the clips to their personal Snapchat and TikTok accounts.

Fidrya, the only adult in the case, is being charged with cyber harassment, two counts of invasion of privacy, and harassment. The two boys involved in the attack have also been charged with harassment. Several local residents and leaders came forward to condemn the sticking incident. The town’s mayor, Kurt Peluso, said:

“What’s really disturbing is at that park…that’s an Access For All playground that this community invested a lot of money in to be especially welcoming to those with special needs.” And the deputy mayor, who also has a son named Addin, who’s on the autism spectrum, was deeply disturbed by the incident.

“People should know better, we’re taught in the high school to respect everyone, to treat people with kindness, and so to see this happen is truly troubling,” said a Fair Lawn resident Bernard Moerdler.

On Thursday, the school district, via their Facebook page, posted a statement condemning the vile act:

“The District first became aware of this matter on Wednesday, September 9, 2020” and immediately contacted the police who “conducted a thorough investigation and determined that there is no evidence that any of the alleged acts occurred on District property.”

It added, “Regardless of where it happened, we were all disturbed and upset by the nature of the video – too sensitive to recount here – and we thank you for reaching out and alerting us. We heard all your calls and read your emails and messages sent on the District’s social media accounts. We thank you for your vigilance to say something when you see something.” It stated further that while the district is limited by law to speak about matters related to its students, it “wants to assure you that our District has zero tolerance when it comes to harassment, intimidation and bullying, including cyber-bullying. We are taking multiple steps to promptly and appropriately respond to this incident.” It also stated, that “the safety, well-being and social and emotional needs of your children continue to be our primary concern regardless of whether we’re in a remote mode right now.”

In a statement, the Superintendent of Schools, Nicholas J. Norcia, said:

“Should a student require support of any kind, the District’s counseling staff is always available. Likewise, individuals can contact me with any questions or concerns.”
