Bruce Willis’ Wife Opens Up About Hardest Decision Yet

Emma Heming, the wife of Bruce Willis, has confirmed that he no longer lives in their main family home. She said the decision was made for the well-being of their two daughters and because a second home nearby was quieter for him. She admitted it was one of the hardest decisions she has ever had to make.

She said in an interview: “It was one of the hardest decisions that I’ve had to make so far. But I knew, first and foremost, Bruce would want that for our daughters. You know, he would want them to be in a home that was more tailored to their needs, not his needs.”

Emma said Bruce’s condition has reached the point where he cannot speak.

Even with that, she explained that there are still small moments when Bruce shows recognition. She said: “I feel he does [remember], right? Like, he, I know he does. You know, when we are with him … he lights up, right?” She added that she does not need him to remember dates or details, only to feel that connection, and that is still there for her.

She admitted those moments are not long but they matter. “Not days, but we get moments,” she explained, and sometimes it is his laugh or a twinkle in his eye that makes her feel transported.

Emma also said: “The language is going,” but the family has found other ways to communicate with him. She said they visit him often and the visits are filled with love and warmth.

She said she realized she was struggling when Bruce’s daughter Scout told her she seemed to be losing it. Since then, she has tried to be stronger for her husband and kids. She has also spoken out about how quick people are to judge caregivers without having lived through it themselves.

On Instagram Emma told her followers: “Too often, caregivers are judged quickly and unfairly by those who haven’t lived this journey or stood on the front lines of it.”
