Bride Puts Groom In Awkward Spot After Asking To Hug Ex-Boyfriend ‘One Final Time’

We all know past relationships can be pretty complicated. It’s difficult to thoroughly purge yourself of past emotions for someone, especially when you’re still friends with that person. And this situation’s made even more awkward at weddings where folks may invite their exes as guests. A wedding is a special event in people’s lives, but it’s also filled with lots of conflicting emotions. We’ve all heard stories of brides and grooms suddenly getting “cold feet” and either not showing up, sneaking out, or flat out walking away at the alter!

This is one reason why having an ex at your wedding can be a horrible idea. But, then again, there are some very emotionally secure folks out there who have no problem inviting someone either they or their future spouse shared so much with to their wedding. Recently a TikTok video of a wedding in Malaysia has gone viral due to a bizarre request by the bride while at the alter.

You see, the bride sparked outrage online after putting her husband in an awkward position when she asked him if it would be okay to hug her ex-boyfriend “one final time.”

She asked this question just seconds after saying, “I Do!”

The TikTok user who uses the handle @mayangkumay posted a short video showing a man walking up to the newly-married couple to congratulate him. The man turns out to be the bride’s ex-boyfriend, and he first extends his hand to offer his ex-girlfriend a congratulatory handshake.

But the bride has other ideas as she turns to her new husband and asks him:

The groom, still smiling (although perhaps dying a bit inside), gives his blessing.

But as his wife and her ex-boyfriend hugged, with her rubbing one hand on his back (perhaps a bit too affectionately?), it was apparent to everyone that the groom was broadcasting a “hurt” expression loud and clear across his face!

Despite his smile, he was definitely not a happy camper!

To his credit, the ex-boyfriend went over to the groom and bowed to him in respect.

He also offers to shake the groom’s hand. But the groom pulls him in, and the two men even exchange a friendly hug as well.

The video has since divided many folks across social media, some who saw it as a sweet and harmless gesture, while others saw it as a huge red flag of problems to come in their marriage.

You can watch the video below and judge for yourself.

What do you think? Was this just a harmless “final” hug between two exes? Or should this guy keep a good divorce attorney on retainer? Let us know in the comments, and please be sure to pass this story along to your friends and family.
