They sometimes say that you should never judge a book by its cover and we often apply it to the things that we see. In reality, however, it also has to do with what people see when they are looking in our direction. Not everybody is going to understand when we are having a rough time but every once in awhile, somebody steps up to the plate and restores our faith in humanity. That is probably how many people felt when they were watching Britain’s Got Talent and saw 10-year-old Calum Courtney performing in front of the judges.
Most people would probably just look at Calum and think that he was a nice young lad with a good voice. That is absolutely true but there is more to the story than what most people realized. He also deals with a mild case of autism and he has had a rough time moving forward with his talent. He has a lot of passion for life and for the things he loves, so he pushes forward in order to take things to a higher level.
Calum was able to overcome his issues and get up in front of a big audience to audition. He was nervous and his family was also nervous as they waited in the wings.
Would he be able to do the performance like everyone knew he could?
Calum was asked by one of the judges if he was nervous and he said that he wasn’t. They were a bit skeptical but his performance was about to remove their doubts.
You may have already know Calum as the ‘Asada Boy’, particularly if you are from the UK. He sang a classic Smoky Robin song for a group of shoppers right in the middle of the grocery store and it was caught on video.
After the video of him singing at the grocery store was posted online, it caught fire. Calum loved his music and still wanted to perform, so Britain’s Got Talent gave him that opportunity.
It was somewhat of a leap of faith for him but he knew he needed to make it.
Calum had to prepare for months to be in front of such a large audience. It was not only the people there at the studio, he knew that millions of people would be watching him on television. He put his best foot forward and stepped out onto the stage.
It only took a moment of singing for the judges and the audience to know he had a lot of talent. His mother also knew about his talent but she was still amazed and waited for what the judges would say.
