‘Bachelorette’ Contestant Emily Maynard Talks About Being Pregnant With Bell’s Palsy

Emily Maynard, a former contestant on the hit reality tv show “The Bachelorette” during the show’s 2012 season, recently shared details about her recent Bell’s palsy diagnosis. When Emily was in high school, she had been inflicted with temporary facial paralysis. And while Emily was pregnant with her fifth child, she experienced the same problem once more.

According to Healthline.com, the disease, which rarely afflicts someone more than once, “causes a temporary weakness or paralysis of the muscles in the face. It can occur when the nerve that controls your facial muscles becomes inflamed, swollen, or compressed. The condition causes one side of your face to droop or become stiff.” In another Instagram story, the former Bachelorette alum wrote that she believed that by the time she turned 34, she would find herself “free from the vanity” she valued “so much in my 20’s.”

Today, Emily shares her life with her husband, Tyler Johnson, and the couple has four beautiful children together.

Emily would star in the 2012 season of the Bachelorette and become engaged to Jef Holm. But, their romance didn’t last, and the couple broke up by that October.

In 2014, Emily and Tyler got engaged and were married a few months later in South Carolina on Tyler’s parents’ farm.
