Animal Rescuers Had A Hard Time Identifying The ‘Octopus’ In Front Of Them

We share our planet with the most amazing animals, and it seems as if they are always teaching us something. After thousands of years of human history, you would think that we knew everything there was to know but sometimes, they can still take us by surprise.

One group of people who see these animals in the most interesting way are rescuers. It doesn’t matter if they are rescuing dogs and cats or some type of exotic animal, it is always interesting.

Recently, a rescue group managed to rescue a feline and it was one of the most unusual things that they had ever seen. Hidey, the cat, was an unusual case because her former owner was not able to groom her for many years.

When Hidey was finally rescued, she had thick hair that looked almost like an octopus. It was sad because her former owner suffered from Alzheimer’s and was taken to a nursing facility.

That is when the Pittsburgh Animal Rescue League Shelter and Wildlife Center was called to the scene. They saw Hidey when they arrived, who had not been cared for properly for up to two years. Some hair on the cat was up to 8 inches long!

Jenn Levitzki, the veterinarian was able to help Hidey to shed all of that matted fur. She also posted a video on Facebook, saying: “Hidey has the worst matting I have ever seen; she has dreadlocks.

“She suffered from severe matting (dreadlocks, really), the likes of which had been neglected for years. Our Medical team shaved off the pounds of intertwined fur from her body &, needless to say, this cat is feeling so much better now!”

After being cared for, they were able to place Hidey with a distant family member of her previous owner. As long as she receives the proper care, she will stay healthy.

This is just a reminder that our animals rely on us to care for them in different ways. When we take care of them, they will pay us back in ways we can’t even imagine.
