People tend to love to debate almost anything and at times, they may find themselves frustrated if the debate is not going in their direction. This is especially true in recent years with the political climate in the United States.
Many celebrities were upset after President-elect Donald Trump gained victory over VP Kamala Harris in the 2024 election. Some of those celebrities were so upset over the situation that they shared publicly that they were planning to leave the United States.
Here are a few who claimed they would not be sticking around.
Eva Longoria
This actress said that she would be moving with her family out of Los Angeles and would be splitting their time between Mexico and Spain.
She said: “I get to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.”
America Ferrera
This actress claims to be ‘sick’ after Donald Trump was reelected as president. The Barbie actress was seen looking for schools for her children earlier this week according to some reports.
According to one source, “It looks like she’s planning to move to South West London.”
Laverne Cox
Now that Donald Trump has secured the victory, Laverne Cox is supposedly packing her bags and moving. This seems to be a decision she made on election night.
The actress said: “He had something like 246 electors. I was just like I’m out. I cried.”
Laverne was concerned for herself and the entire trans community, saying: “As a public figure, with all my privilege, I’m scared, and I’m particularly scared because I’m a public figure. I feel like I could be targeted. I think they spent close to $100 million on anti-trans ads.”
The actor says that she will be doing research on different cities in Europe and the Caribbean.
Cher
This actress was very upset over the victory in 2016 and she said that she was going to be moving to another planet. She said: “If he were to be elected, I’m moving to Jupiter.”
That was in 2016 and although she didn’t actually move to Jupiter, she did say that she would be moving this time. She said: “This time I will leave the country,” adding “I almost got an ulcer the last time Trump was in office.”
Sophie Turner
Sophie recently split with Joe Jonas and moved back to the UK. This was done for professional reasons, but she also says she was uncomfortable with the political climate in the United States.
In an interview, she said: “The gun violence, Roe v. Wade being overturned, everything just kind of piled on.” She then added: “Women in the U.S. are being stripped of their rights, left, right and center. It all contributed to this feeling of I have to get out, I have to get out.”
